Privacy Policy
Detour: Adventure Planner · Last updated: October 9, 2026
Detour has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no artificial intelligence services and no servers of its own. The developer does not collect, receive or sell your information. Your trips are stored only on your iPhone.
What stays on your iPhone
Your trips (destination, dates, stops, notes) and your settings. Deleting the app deletes them.
Where information goes when you use the app
- Apple Maps. To find and show places, Detour sends searches to Apple Maps through Apple's MapKit. Apple's privacy policy applies.
- Wikivoyage, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons (Wikimedia Foundation). To find popular places, photos and popularity, Detour asks Wikivoyage for the travel-guide pages near your destination (sending its map coordinates), asks Wikipedia about places by name, and asks Commons for photos taken near a place (sending that place's coordinates). No account or personal details are sent. The Wikimedia privacy policy applies.
- Calendar (only if you tap Add to my Calendar). Detour asks for permission to add events to your calendar. It can add events but cannot read the ones you already have, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Apple Maps Look Around. Street-level photos in the Explore list come from Apple through MapKit.
- Apple's App Store listing. About once a day Detour checks Apple's public listing for a newer version. It sends only the app's bundle ID, nothing about you.
- Look Around and directions. These use Apple Maps and open Apple Maps or Google Maps only when you tap them.
Location
Detour does not ask for or use your location. You type the places you're going.
Sharing and exporting
Your trip leaves the app only when you choose to export or share it (for example as a KML file for Google My Maps). Where it goes then is up to you.
Children
The app doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
